Color Bug!

Introducing, Color Bug!!! I couldn't even wait for Ten Things Tuesday to come around for me to post about this stuff! I want one so bad! I love the idea of changing hair color so easily - I'll be at orientation tomorrow for cosmetology school, so you all know I love playing around with hair! This is like chalk for your hair. You just apply any type of product to your hair such as hairspray, dry shampoo, or wax & then you apply this on top of it. There is a video if you wanna see how it works. It's so vibrant and looks great! The only place I've really found to buy it is Ebay, this is for a color bug in orange (which is the color I want!) but it also comes in pink and purple. If any of you actually buy this before I do or have used it before, please let me know how much you love it!

Bows, Bows, Bows!

I made a bunch of bows the other day and here they are! If you're interested in buying one, they are $5 each. I will not be adding these to Etsy this time around but I do still accept Paypal, so orders are welcome! Just send me an email by either using the link at the top of my blog or you can send one to Owlive (at) hotmail (dot) com. Don't forget to include the bow number so I know which ones you want. I can also make matching button earrings for any of these bows, just ask! Earrings are also $5 per pair. Each bow roughly measure 2.5 x 4 inches and include an alligator clip on the back.

Wig Crazy

Yep. That's a wig, my friends!
So I ordered my very first wig a few weeks ago. I got inspired by Kaelah over at Little Chief Honeybee - who looks amazing in every single wig she has (and her own hair, too, of course) and so I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. Since it was only about $20, I decided that it would be worth the chance of me never actually wearing it in public and bought one from this seller on Ebay.

it was really bright outside for both of these photos, excuse the awkward facial expressions!

Here is the link to the actual wig you'll see me wearing in these pictures. Everyone that has seen it on, in person, has said it looks so real. I love wearing it already and I'm more inspired to get my real hair that long! I can't wait to get another one - what color/style would you suggest for my next purchase?

Jamie and I at Texas Road House for dinner

I will admit - when wearing it in public, I feel like everyone just knows it's a wig and is staring at me. I highly doubt that's really what's going on and my mind is just playing tricks on me... but it's definitely hard to get used to wearing it & wearing it proudly! I've forced myself to wear it out in public twice now and it's not been too awful but I'm sure I'm driving everyone crazy by constantly asking if it looks okay or if I need to fix something.
Overall, I'm loving it!
I hope this inspires one of you to take a chance and try something silly/crazy like this!

Review of Samy Fat Foam Hair Color

I've been coloring my hair at home for years. Every so often I will go to the salon, but my home color just seems to stay longer and doesn't hurt my wallet as much. I've been eager to color my hair for a couple of weeks and when I came across this Fat Foam in Wal-mart the other day (sorry, I can't remember the exact price but I believe it was around $8), I just knew I had to try it. I have had auburn/red/brown hair forever and they had the perfect shade named "Deep Cherry Brown" that I wanted to try.

This is what their Facebook fan page claims:

"Non-drip whipped foam wraps each hair strand allowing even color from root to end
100% gray coverage
Easy and mistake proof, even for the first time user
What's inside: color powder, base solution, gloves, shampoo, conditioner, mixing shaker and instructions
One application covers shoulder-length hair"

So I got my supplies out and started the process...
and then waited...and waited a little more...and this is what I ended up with!

Pros:
  • Covered all of my hair! I am usually squeezing the very last of the color out of the tube of normal hair coloring kits to get every inch covered. This foam covered my entire head and I even had extra.
  • You know how you get hair color on your skin? Well, with this stuff...it somehow just rubs off. I say that's pretty amazing. No more breaking out the alcohol to scrub around my hairline!
  • Achieved the color I wanted with even coverage
  • I loved that it came with shampoo! Most kits only provide conditioner and tell you to NOT shampoo right after coloring. I can't stand having to wait. The little extra scrubbing helps get all the color out.
  • About the same price as other color products

Cons:
  • They claim that it's a "no-drip" foam. I'd agree to a certain extent...but I still made the same mess as I have previously with liquid hair colors. If you only use a little bit at a time, you shouldn't have any issues.
  • I seemed to have more hair falling out than usual when I was rinsing. I have no clue if this has anything to do with the product - but I think it still needs to be noted.

Overall, I give this stuff two thumbs up and will definitely be using it in the future!!!
